Soar High at the World’s Largest Indoor Skydiving Wind Tunnel
If you’re looking for an adrenaline-fueled adventure without having to hurl yourself out of a plane at 13,000 feet, indoor skydiving might be the perfect activity for you. And the indoor flying experience at CLYMB Abu Dhabi is the best of its kind in the world.
The CLYMB indoor skydiving wind tunnel measures a record-breaking 104 feet in height and 32 feet in width. But it’s not only the size of the wind tunnel that’s impressive – the state-of-the-art technology behind it is another aspect that sets it apart from other indoor skydiving facilities.
The wind tunnel is equipped with powerful fans that can generate wind speeds of up to 186 miles per hour, providing a true freefall experience. It also features the latest technology in air conditioning and filtration, ensuring that the air inside the wind tunnel is clean and comfortable to breathe.
Indoor skydiving in CLYMB is designed to cater to a wide range of visitors, from first-time flyers as young as three years of age to expert skydivers looking for a different kind of rush. Even if you just want to get over your fear of heights, indoor skydiving can be a great way to experience that unique flying sensation without having to leap out of a plane.
Planning a trip with the kids? CLYMB Abu Dhabi also offers a Junior Flying Club for young flyers aged 3 to 14. This allows younger visitors to hone their indoor skydiving skills and gain more confidence in the air.
What to Expect and Proper Preparation
After getting fitted with an air suit provided by the adventure hub, first-time flyers will attend a briefing with a flight instructor. The instructor will guide you throughout the entire experience, so you can feel comfortable and confident before taking to the air.
During the briefing, the instructors will explain the hand signals used during the flight. This is important, as it can be quite noisy inside the flight chamber, making verbal communication difficult.
You’ll also get to practice the right skydiving positions before the actual activity. This will give you a sense of what to expect once inside the wind tunnel, which can be helpful if it’s your first time.
Scale the Middle East’s Highest Indoor Climbing Wall
Leave your fears at the door and prepare to ascend the Middle East’s highest climbing wall. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced climber, there’s a wall that’s ready to challenge you at CLYMB Abu Dhabi.
The climbing wall at CLYMB Abu Dhabi is a record-breaking 141 feet high, making it one of the tallest in the world. If you’re an advanced climber, consider tackling The SUMMYT™, the pinnacle of indoor climbing that will challenge even the most experienced climbers.
For those who are just starting out, there are four other walls of varying heights to choose from: The Advanced wall comes in second at 72 feet, followed by The Intermediate wall (33 feet), The Beginner wall (15 feet), and The Boulder (9.8 feet).
What to Expect and How to Prepare
There is a lower age limit of four years for indoor climbing. Younger climbers may be required to wear a junior harness. There is no maximum weight or height limit; however, climbers must be able to fit into the climbing gear.
As with indoor skydiving, you need to be physically able and healthy, free of any back, shoulder, neck, or heart problems before attempting to climb at CLYMB Abu Dhabi.
Here, they’ve divided the indoor climbing experiences into 30-minute slots, with beginners getting a one-hour session. Be sure to arrive 30 minutes before your scheduled session to be fitted with special climbing shoes.
Afterward, head down to the lower levels, where you’ll meet your instructor and practice on The Boulder to get a feel for the activity and the skills needed for climbing.
After becoming more familiar with the basics, you’ll be harnessed and let loose on the beginner’s wall, which provides a decent challenge for those just starting out. Remember to stretch well first before beginning your ascent.
Once you’ve mastered The Beginner wall, you’ll be able to move up to the intermediate walls, where seven new challenges await. Depending on your comfort and confidence level, you can tackle the more challenging advanced wall and work your way up The SUMMYT.
One of the great things about the setup at CLYMB Abu Dhabi is that you can take slightly different paths, with your instructor telling you which color to try for your difficulty level. This allows beginners and more experienced climbers to climb together on many of the walls.
You’ll always be under the watchful eyes of an instructor, so you don’t have to worry about falling. With the proper preparation and expert guidance, you’ll be well on your way to conquering the highest indoor climbing wall in the Middle East.
