Exciting new Danish two-piece ALSACE unveil their debut single ‘Physical’. Featuring deep, seductive grooves, warm melodies and the smoothest of vocals, ‘Physical’ is the kind of slick, carefree modern disco track that you simply have to listen to more than once. With their debut album currently in the pipeline, ALSACE have been in the studio with the likes of Daniel Lynas, who has previously worked with A$AP Rocky, Kanye West and more, and Grammy-nominated Chris Geringher from Sterling Sound. Marking the start of ALSACE’s musical journey, ‘Physical’ is the product of two wildly talented young artists with the world at their feet.
ALSACE INTERVIEW WITH FRANKIE SALT
Where do you live, what makes it unique or is it famous for something?
We live in Copenhagen, the lovely capital city of Denmark.
When you speak about Copenhagen outside of Denmark, people always say “oooooh yeah, Christiania” and yes that’s where it is, and it is a lovely place.
Also it is a small capital city compared to other, but still so full of life and people from all across the world.
In summertime, there is no better place to be than Copenhagen.
Throughout lockdown, what has been your favourite thing to do at the weekend?
Definitely being creative and diving deep into our music. Long nights nerding synthesizers and our brand New Space Echo. Actually lockdown was kind of a weird period, we know everyone feels that way, but for us it felt a bit like a free pass to stay inside and just produce, produce, produce. We made a lot of music during lockdown and the isolation and non existing social circle helped us focus and write.
Any side hustles or skills you want to share with us?
Learning from the best. Whether it’s on YouTube or reading a book or having a mentor in real life. It’s the best way to learn, and speaking of side hustles everyone you work with or wanna be compared to has their own little tricks, so it’s about seeing and learning them all and cherry-picking the ones that work for you. we try to do that all the time, to have a faster workflow or create a specific sound or whatever it might be.
What cheeky banger has been playing through your speakers on repeat for the last 6 months?
There has been a fair few, we must say. We both love disco, so Sister Sledge – He’s the Greatest Dancer and Odyssey – Going Back to My Roots. We recently discovered Charlie Puth, his track “Attention” has been on repeat a lot lately.
Favourite Friday night dinner at home or restaurant?
Friday night dinner is usually in the studio, but we really appreciate good healthy foods, so we listen to music or write lyrics while cooking from the bottom every time we’re in a session. Occasionally we go to a small restaurant in inner Copenhagen called Alsace, like us. It’s a French thing and there’s nothing modern or 2020 about it, which is nice. It’s just good old French dishes and some of the best white wines in town. Go there if you’re in Copenhagen.
