Changes to the working Holiday 417 Visa age limit
Canada & Ireland Citizens the first to get the Holiday VISA age limit extension.
An increase in age limit to 35 years for working holiday visas to Australia for Irish and Canadian citizens were granted on November 1st, 2018. This new legislation was under review in July 2017 for the increase in maximum age limit for Visas applicants from 30 to 35. Since then, these negotiations between the Australian government and the partner countries on the visa program have been successful, and Canada & Ireland were the first to get in.

The below are the 40 countries on the waiting list for the citizens on the WHM Subclass 417 list; Belgium, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, and United Kingdom.
The Countries on the waiting list for the WHM Subclass 462 citizens
And for WHM subclass 462 citizens from Argentina, Austria, Chile, People’s Republic of China, Czech Republic, Hungary, Indonesia, Israel, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Peru, Poland, Portugal, San Marino, Singapore, Slovak Republic, Slovenia, Spain, Thailand, Turkey, USA, and Uruguay must file their visa applications before they turn 31.
The differences between 417 & 462 Visas Subclasses
The main variation amid the two visas subclasses is that Work and Holiday visa provisions usually have caps on the number of visas approved yearly and added eligibility requirements.
Eligibility criteria for Working Holiday VISA 417
- Be Passport Holder from an eligible partner country.
- For Canadian and Irish citizens who as of November 1 can apply until they are 35 and for other countries be at age 18 to 30.
- Meet financial, health and character requirements.
- Dependent children should not be accompanied during your stay in Australia
