HAAi’s humble beginnings started in a small surfing town in Perth, before relocating to Sydney where she began her own psych-rock band. Four years after releasing a handful of singles, HAAi’s musical journey shifted considerably, from playing live band shows with Dark Bells to DJ-ing at London club Phonox. She left a reliable name for herself which include many sold-out nights during her two-year-long Phonox residency. This was further solidified by her debut Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1, voted as the best 2018 Essential mix by the public.
The producer is known for her unique penchant to collect obscure music, from Thai and Turkish funk, tripped-out psychedelic records to Kenyan beats. Her wide-ranging musical influences can be heard throughout her own label Coconut Beats, home to her own releases like DaDaDa, Be Good, FEELS and her debut EP Motorik Voodoo Bush Doof Musik.
Over the last three summers, HAAi has been playing b2b handclap-heavy sets across Europe with renowned DJs. Recently, she showcased her unconventional approach to music with Systems Up, Windows Down, a six-track EP released through Mute Records. It features field recordings from her travels to exotic locations like Marrakech and highlights her fun sense of humour through track titles like the tongue-in-cheek CHONKIBOI, (which is named after her love for “chonky” -chunky and round- animals).
With her reputation as a DJs DJ growing by the day, a consistent release schedule and booking calendar filled with international bookings, brace yourself for the Aussie DJ taking the world by storm.
