How to Get Free Education in Different Countries

The two main reasons why applicants refuse higher education abroad are the lack of knowledge of a foreign language and the high cost of education, sometimes reaching several million rubles a year.

And if ignorance of the language can become an obstacle to moving to the country of dreams, then the absence of millions in a bank account is not. Higher education is not always expensive. A number of universities in Europe, Asia and America offer free higher education programs, including for international students.

You can study abroad for free by enrolling in an appropriate program at a state university (usually they do not require payment for programs taught in the official language of the country) or by receiving a scholarship that covers the cost of education.

France

In France, education in all public universities (for example, in the famous Sorbonne) is free for both citizens of the country and for foreigners, the main thing is to demonstrate a high level of proficiency in French (a confirmed level of B2 is required to enter the first year) and motivation (especially for master’s programs).

Despite the fact that education is free, students must pay a registration fee – about 250 euros per year.

International students can enjoy all student benefits, including a place in a hostel, many discounts and free admission to museums and galleries.

Also, government, social and university scholarships allow you to get a French diploma for free or significantly reduce training costs.

USA

The United States is among the countries with the most expensive education. But you can get a university degree here for free, by winning a Fulbright Foundation grant that covers all expenses for tuition, transportation and the TOEFL exam. In addition, the fellow will receive between $ 2,500 and $ 2,900 each month, depending on the state, for related expenses.

But this grant program is not the only opportunity to study in the United States for free. A number of universities offer free educational programs. Among them is the music school of the prestigious Yale University, a member of the Ivy League.

Although it is possible to receive scholarships, students have to pay for qualifying exams. For example, the Oklahoma Bar Exam costs $400. At the same time, the LSATMax Scholarship is available to any student who qualifies for an LSAC fee waiver.

Germany

Germany is interested in foreign intellectual resources, so this country provides many opportunities to get higher education for free, not only in German, but also in English.

In a public university, the student only has to pay the student fee, which includes the cost of the ticket and administrative costs. As in other universities in Europe, upon admission, you will need a certificate of proficiency in English or German, depending on which of them will be teaching.

In addition, political foundations provide scholarships to socially active students with high academic performance.

Australia

You can get free education in this country only with the help of one of the scholarships: the government Australia Awards Scholarships, scholarships for a master’s or doctor’s degree Endeavor Postgraduate Awards, The Adelaide Scholarships International for promising doctoral students, The Melbourne International Research Scholarships for international students and many others.  However, it should be borne in mind that most scholarships cover only a fraction of the student’s expenses. Even if you can’t get a qualification for free, there are government funded courses that will partially cover tuition fees. But students are required to meet eligibility requirements.

Norway

Most universities in this country offer free education to everyone, only a student fee of 30-60 euros is paid each semester. Payment of the fee, in turn, provides the student with a number of privileges, lucrative offers and discounts.

In a number of countries, for example, in the UK, Sweden and others, free education is not provided, and the cost of education is very high, but there are scholarship programs that finance studies in whole or in part.

Czech Republic

This country is great for getting quality free education. Since public universities are funded by the state, there are no tuition costs for both Czech and foreign students. The main condition is knowledge of the Czech language.

One of the best and oldest multidisciplinary universities in the country is Charles University. This university is state-owned, which means that it offers free education to students from all over the world.

It is also important that students with excellent academic performance can, among other things, apply for a monthly university scholarship.

Poland

In this country, you can get education in both Polish and English, but there are many times less free English-language programs. Many universities offer preparatory Polish language courses.

You can apply for the free program by passing the entrance exams with excellent marks or by receiving a scholarship for international students.

Finland

Finnish universities offer more than five hundred English-language programs, most of which are free. To enter the universities of this country, you will need not only to provide a certificate confirming a high level of English proficiency, but also to pass entrance tests.

Greece

Both Greek and foreign students can study at public universities in this country. The key requirements for admission are knowledge of the Greek language and a high GPA in the certificate. If the applicant does not know Greek, he will have to learn it during the first year of study.

Some public universities have an annual fee of € 500-600.

China

To study for free in China, you will also have to get a scholarship on a competitive basis. Foreign students have a chance to receive one of four types of funding: a government scholarship of the PRC, allocated from the state budget, a mayor’s, university scholarship or a Confucius Institute scholarship (for this you need to study at one of the Confucius institutes in the world and show high results in the study of the Chinese language) …
