Jobs You Might Like if You Enjoy Driving

Truck Driver

Millions of people love driving, and for good reason. First, there is the freedom that comes with being behind the wheel. You can go anywhere you want, within the limits of the law and your fuel tank. Then, the act of driving itself can be relaxing. Whether it’s the rhythmic movement of your hands on the steering wheel or the hum of the engine, there is something about driving that can help to clear your mind.

If you’re someone who enjoys driving, several different career paths might be a good fit for you. Here are just a few examples.

Chauffeur

If you love fancy cars and socializing with different people, then a job as a chauffeur might be perfect for you.

From airport car services to bachelorette party shuttle transportation, chauffeurs typically drive high-end vehicles and know their way around a city to get their clients to their destinations safely and on time. Many chauffeurs also serve as personal assistants to their clients, so excellent customer service skills are a must.

To start a career as a chauffeur you’ll need qualifications like a clean driving record, a valid driver’s license, and a clean background check.

Truck Driver

If you’re looking for a job that will take you all over the country (or even the world), then a career as a truck driver might be for you.

Truck drivers transport all kinds of goods and materials from one location to another. Some truck drivers make long-haul trips, while others stick to shorter local routes.

To qualify as a truck driver, you’ll need to have a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). You should also expect to pass a Department of Transportation (DOT) check. Some trucking companies may require additional training, such as hazmat certification.

Uber/Lyft Driver

If you’re looking for a flexible job that you can do on your own schedule, then consider Uber or Lyft as a good option.

As an Uber or Lyft driver, you use your own vehicle to pick up passengers and take them to their destination. Thus, you can work as little or as much as you want.

Typically, becoming an Uber or Lyft driver is a matter of having a valid driver’s license, meeting the minimum age requirement to drive in your city, and passing a background check.

School Bus Driver

If you enjoy working with children and you’re looking for a job with set hours, then add a career as a school bus driver to your list of options.

Transporting students safely to and from school each day is a great job to have.

To become a school bus driver, you’ll need a valid commercial driver’s license (CDL). You will also need to pass a DOT physical exam and a background check. Then, some school districts may require additional training, such as first-aid certification or defensive driving courses.

There are many different jobs that involve driving. Whether you’re looking for a flexible job or something with set hours, there’s sure to be a career that’s perfect for you.
