One To Watch: Honeyblood

New Music Honeyblood

Following the Scottish Indie successes of Frightened Rabbit and We Were Promised Jetpacks, are female, Glasgow based two-piece, Honeyblood.

Shona McVicar (drums) and Stina Marie Claire Tweeddale (vocals/guitar,) are here to establish that girls can create cracking Indie too. As Deap Valley have also proved, girls can do Grunge and thrash a guitar or bash a drum face with as much aptitude and passion as the boys. Honeyblood are here to help form a rise in girls and guitars with their bitter-sweet, grungy Pop.

The pair have played The Great Escape Festival and had the privilege of supporting the likes of recognised Indie lads Palma Violets.

‘Bud’ is the debut single release from the duo which shows their feminine and sugary take on Grunge, the guitars chewy enough to mosh your head to, but the lyrics syrupy enough to sing along with.

Their latest online release ‘Choker’, gives a sneak peak of their first album, exposing a more menacing side with deeper vocals and a more threatening sound on drums and guitar. ‘Choker’ proves the pair mean business, they are here to shake things up with a touch of intimidating and ominous girl power.
Honeyblood have been spreading their sweet scuzz across the UK with a tour last month, and they also played SXSW.

Honeyblood’s debut ‘Bud’ is out now on Fatcat Records. The girls should have a full LP and complete album out later this year, so watch this space!
