Pirra return with new single “The Peak”. Pirra are returning with new single The Peak on February 28; an indie-electro banger interweaving melodic bass leads with majestic synth lines and sultry vocals, showing a big evolution for the Sydney quartet.
Fronted by Luritja woman Jess Beck, Pirra have delivered a dancefloor-filler, written on the come-down of a massive weekend, exploring the line between having the best night of your life and taking it that little bit too far.
“We’d all been left feeling like wet paper bags after having one of those once in a lifetime weekends. So, in days that followed it was almost medicinal to write a song about those surreal moments even though at the time those feelings were in pretty stark contrast,” said Beck.
And band certainly have a lot to celebrate, after inking with celebrated UK label Cr2 Records, through their imprint BLK&WHT, seating the Sydney-siders on a roster with massive names including Carl Cox and Gerd Janson.
On The Peak, Pirra have teamed up with legendary British producer Roy Kerr, famous for his work with London Grammar, Aurora and Sir Paul McCartney, jumping on board the track after falling in love with Pirra upon hearing their uniquely Australian demos.
“Pirra are that rare gem, storytellers with a love for the dance floor. The Peak bounces and bubbles to an almighty peak. It’s like the communal journey of a great DJ set. My involvement in Pirra’s journey continues to be one of my most rewarding projects to date,” said Kerr.
The perfect follow up-to the band’s euphoric 2019 track Under The Skyline, The Peak replicates the incredible atmosphere that saw Pirra rise above the crowd with feature spots across both triple j and commercial radio, shows with the likes of The Rubens stages with massive names, including The Rubens, festivals including BIGSOUND and Australian Music Week and their first international shows across Europe.
Peak out with Pirra with shows on Friday, March 20 at The Beresford in Surry Hills supporting Brendan Maclean, on Saturday, April 4 at Torch Fest, Friday, on Sunday, April 19 at Scotts Head Food, Wine, Music & Art Festival, and on Friday, May 22 at Vic On The Park in Marrickville.
