Eat Your Way Around Brisbane at Good Food Month 2017

From sprawling night markets to a lunch cooked by the newest chefs on the block, Good Food Month is returning to Brisbane this July and is bringing with it gastronomic delights by the bucketful. We rounded up some of the best events to head to if you want to fill your belly and soothe yourself during the chillier winter evenings.

Brisbane Night Noodle Markets

Perhaps the most vibrant of everything going on at this year’s Good Food Month, the Brisbane Night Noodle Market is a vivid recreation of an Asian street food market, complete with 23 market stalls boasting a delicious array of sweet and savoury delights. Held on the Cultural Forecourt at South Bank, there’ll be food from the likes of Teppanyaki Noodles, Little Kyoto, Donburi Station, Spanthai and Hoy Pinoy, along with nightly music, making for an exciting evening for all the senses. Finish off your meal with an indulgent gelato from Gelato Messina or one of the treats whipped up by the Blackstar x N2 Extreme Gelato collab. This year all stalls are cashless so you can use any card to your hearts content (or until you’ve spent your entire bank balance on food.)

Young Chef’s Lunch

Showcasing up-and-coming talent of the culinary world is what the Young Chef’s Lunch is all about. Supervised by head chef Ben Russell, four bright new chefs (Josh Raine – The Urban Group, Callum Decosta – Esquire Restaurant, Alex Gregg – Gerard`s Bistro, Jeong Insik – ARIA Restaurant) will be serving up an inspiring lunch to demonstrate they’ll soon be making big waves in the industry. With the four-course menu featuring the likes of Wagyu short rib with white kimchi and Hibiscus cured QLD cobia, in addition to matched wines, its sure to impress.

Laneway! Street Food! Music!

The name for this event is pretty self explanatory, and what’s not to love!? Although the location is being kept a secret, we do know that for $50 you’ll get your hands on four ice cold beers and three servings of food – that’s a pretty decent deal! The menu has only recently been finalised, and includes a feast of Pumpkin Risotto with Vannella Burrata and Stracciatella cheese served with truffled honey, to name but two dishes. Much like the Night Noodle Markets, this event will also feature live music so you can boogie on down well into the night.
