Embark on an unforgettable outdoor adventure on Fraser Island and escape the crowds on a self-guided two day hike. On this tour you can visit Central Station, Wanggoolba Creek and Basin Lake, Lake McKenzie and many other places.
The group tour is limited to six people and includes round-trip transport to Fraser Island by ferry and 4WD. This is a self-guided hiking trip, you will not have a guide with you on the hike.
What to Expect
Your Fraser Island hiking experience includes camping equipment such as a tent, hiking backpack and cooking gear, plus maps, itineraries, permits, and return 4WD and barge transfers that take you from Hervey Bay to the starting point on Fraser Island for the self-guided hike. You will receive a full safety briefing and information about what to expect on your Fraser Island hiking adventure. All you need to bring is your personal gear and food.
Day 1: Hervey Bay to Fraser Island. Your hiking adventure commences with a pickup and a safety briefing at our office. Then you will be transported by 4WD to the River Heads barge where you take the 10.15 am barge to Wanggoolba Creek to start your walk. See the Wanggoolba Creek, Basin Lake and camp at Lake McKenzie hikers camp.
Day 2: Fraser Island to Hervey Bay Wake up to a beautiful sunrise at the lake. Pack your gear and take a 13 km hike out via Mckenzie Jetty to Kingfisher Bay Resort. Meet your 4wd transfer at 4:30 pm for a 5:00 pm barge departure, keeping an eye out for dolphins, dugongs and other marine life during the crossing. Back on the mainland, your driver meets you and returns you to Hervey Bay where your tour ends.
