Single Review: Oceaán – ‘Turned Away’

Oceaan Turned Away Review

Following his soothing synth creation ‘To Lose’ which rose high on the Hype Machine charts, Brussels-born and Manchester-hailing producer Oceaán brings his next single.

Oceaán, as a growing name in Electronic Underground, has seen support from Annie Mac and Rob Da Bank, and with ‘Turned Away’ it’s no surprise.

The new track swerves towards the more funky and upbeat. Catchy clicks and drum beats form a simple but catchy backdrop to get those toes a-tapping and heading for a dance floor. Cheerful swirling sound effects add to the feel-good tune and vocals wind and climb throughout with a soulful edge. ‘I have a feeling that I love you…’ is a cheeky confession that expands across the 2 minutes 50 seconds, developing into a haunting sentiment, ‘but you carved my heart and you turned away.’

‘Turned Away’ is available to stream on SoundCloud now, and is a flavouring of Oceaán’s self-titled debut EP out at the end of this month (31st March) on Chess Club records.
