This year Snowbombing will be celebrating its 15th birthday by inviting world class selection of live acts and DJs including The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers,Chase & Status and other fantastic acts. From April 7th to the 12th of April, the breath taking event is Europe’s biggest music & snow festival with such a unique experiences and entertainment of all kinds. If this one of a kind festival with its list of world star live acts performing is enough to lure you, then here are 10 more reasons for you to join the festival in Mayrhofen, Austria.

Arctic Disco

Dusky, Nina Kraviz, Radio Slave and a rare Soul and Funk set from Carl Cox will be entertaining in the giant Igloo so that you can dance the night away. In the Arctic Disco, there are luxurious rugs and three bars that are sculptured out of ice and snow as well as hot gluhwein and cocktails. All of which while the world class DJs blast the beats.The event will warm you up in the cold winter nights as you sip on your drinks and make some shapes to the music.

Fancy Dress – Street Party

The Snowbombing festival gives you the opportunity to catch 6,000 people all dressed up in hilarious costumes, from those in Lederhosen and Tyrolean hats with gigantic moustaches. The event is all in spirit of the Street Party and the essence of the festival, where the sillier the costume the better. Each year there is a P.A system on the Mayrhofen village music pavilion placed by the Snowbombing festival which invites the entire population of Mayrhofen to get involved with the party. Taking Mayrhofen back to its roots, this year’s Street Party has been given the theme of ‘Leder-Hoe Down!’.

Each year brings in a great line-up and this year it’s only become bigger and better! The line-up for Snowboming included live acts and DJs such as The Prodigy, Chemical Brothers, Foxes, Tom Odell, Nina Kraviz, The Martinez Brothers, Breach, Chase & Status, Scuba and Rudimental. The SNOW!

The Austrian steep piste provides the perfect skiing/snowboarding conditions with 625 km of it and a glacier of 3286m with the award winning terrain park. The slopes of 3,700 feet will give you 15 minutes of decent and there are also deep snow areas, humps, powder runs, sunny and treeless summit slopes, broad carving areas and challengingly steep north slopes so there’s something for everyone.

The Backcountry Party

In the forgotten valley of Floitental, the best loved rave institutions takes place in a lumberjack’s mountain retreat. A 300 year old Tristenbachalm is the venue for the party goers, who are taken there by coach through the 2km long tunnel that runs through the centre of the tunnel. The Tristenbachalm is a converted traditional farmstead that has a sound system installed, split level bars and decks. Mayrhofen mischief-makers Austrian Filter House (Artwork & Ben Westbeech) and We Love… residents PBR Streetgang will be providing the beats for the Backcountry Party and outside on the terrace, traditional musicians play and fires will keep you warm under the stars. Also running outside is the Challenge the Lumberjack competition. This is a series of tree-trunk lifting and log-carrying to test the strength, spirit and sobriety of those competing.

Mayrhofen is host to one of the most luxurious spas in the Austrian mountains as it boasts balmy Moroccan-themed pools, ralaxation rooms and roof top hot tubs that give you views of the amazing peaks. The pleasure of the Snowbombing festival is that you can enjoy the 7 types of saunas before you check out the headline acts performing that night. A great way to enjoy the night’s live music being performed after you’ve spent the day snowboarding.

Tom Odell is the an award winning artis with the Critics’ Choice at the BRIT Awards and also a number one album and he will be performing twice at Snowbombing. One of which shall be a once in a lifetime, mountaintop set outside the Superdry Arctic Disco.

Austrian Filter House

On the 7th April Austrian Filter House will be making an appearance for the first time at the Backcountry Party. The legend of Austrian Filter House is something that everyone making the trip to Mayrhofen should be aware off before hand. They are the musical duo that have been inspired by mountain’s magic and are two gentlemen dressed in lederhosen and donning fantastic fake moustaches. These two natives of Tyrolean are Arnold Schnitzelfinger and Hurtzall Zebeats (Artwork & Ben Westbeech).

EDDIE THE EAGLE

The Winter Olympic legend that is Eddie The Eagle will be conducting a Q&A with snowboarders and skiers sharing his stories, tips on the slopes and also to one lucky winner of the competition to win a lesson with the ‘Eagle’.
