Riding on the wave of popularity that Americana music is experiencing in the UK right now, SummerTyne Americana Festival 2014 is back to rejoice and rejuvenate the roots of American music.SummerTyne Americana Festival 2014: 18th – 20th July.

With a line-up more diverse than ever before, July 2014 is set to sizzle with a hot combo of both distinguished Americana legends as well as a variety of fresh-faced US and UK breakthrough acts. With monumental sets from an array of alternative musicians, singers and songwriters prepared to stun, SummerTyners can expect the likes of The Jayhawks fronting the main stage with their distinctive blend of Americana country & roots-rock sounds, joined also by soul legends Booker T. Jones and Bettye Lavette. Accompanying them in summer 2014 will also be the exceptionally talented Steven Seagal and his Blues Band, Chuck Prophet and the SummerTyne Strings, John Fullbright, Sarah Jarosz, Cass McCombs, Smoke Fairies, Eve Selis, Davina & The Vagabonds and many more.

Fans of the SummerTyne festival will also be pleased to hear that returning in 2014 will be the free outdoor Jumpin’ Hot stage, where spectators can kick back, relax and soak up the rays on the south bank of the Tyne as they enjoy the best in Country, Blues and Rock ‘N’ Roll. This year, performing on the Jumpin’ Hot stage will be the likes of The Magnolia Sisters, Otis Gibbs, I Draw Slow and Danny and the Champions of the World.

Alongside a cracking line-up, SummerTyne will also be throwing some top-class entertainment into the mix, with performances from the SummerTyne Americana Festival Choir – led by none other than ex Massive Attack singer Yolanda Quartey – plus a film programme, talks & exhibitions, family concerts & free activities, al-fresco street dining, vintage cars – the list goes on!

All events across the weekend will be taking place inside or outside of the Sage Gateshead; a world-class concert venue with top notch acoustics, located adjacent to the picturesque banks of the river Tyne.
