It is fantastic and it offers something for everybody.

Learning to surf is one of the most exciting and rewarding experiences you can have with nature. No matter what your ability, there is a wave out there for everyone! Whatever your reason for wanting to try this great Australian pastime, there will be a Surfing Australia Surf School waiting to provide you with a truly memorable experience. Just make sure you keep an eye out for our Surfing Australia Surf Schools logo so you can be sure you are in safe hands and GOOD LUCK!

It was just about 100 years ago that Duke Kahanamoku introduced to the world what Pacific Islanders had been doing for centuries, going surfing and now surfing is fast becoming the sport of the 21st Century.

If you haven’t had the opportunity to experience the “stoke” of surfing it is about time you did. What was a sport for “extreme sports” enthusiasts has now become a sport that anybody can experience thanks to the development in coaching programs and surfboard manufacturing.

If you are planning a holiday “down under”, you must include a visit to a Surfing Australia Surfschool to complete your Australian adventure. Within a couple of hours after signing up you will be on the beach checking out the surf prior to experiencing the pure joy of riding the raw energy of what only mother nature can offer. Surfing is unique in the way it harnesses the ocean’s energy for fun and pleasure.

The Surfing Australia Surfschool Network has 80 affiliated surfschools nationwide offering lessons for the beginner through to surfers who want to improve their enjoyment level from surfing. Surfing is for everyone, for the young and the young at heart. It offers a great healthy outdoor activity with the added bonus that all lessons include an introduction and awareness of the dangers of the ocean environment. Safety is one of the elements key to having an enjoyable experience in the ocean and in the waves.

We want to make sure that your visit to Australia is memorable for the right reasons, we want to take you surfing so you can take away lasting memories whether you just taste it once or continue to enjoy the “stoke” of surfing for many years to come.

Fish Rock Cave is our best known and most popular dive site but the Cave is just the beginning of the great diving around South West Rocks. The surrounds of Fish Rock offer some spectacular dives and opportunities to view the abundant marine life that congregates around the Rock.

South West Rocks is one of the closest points to the continental shelf, with superb visibility and water temperature that is good all year round. Average visibility is around 15-20 metres (25-30m is not unusual), and you can expect the water to be 18-20° in winter, and around a balmy 24-25° in summer.

In South West Rocks you will find a diverse range of marine life such as the Grey Nurse Shark. The Grey Nurse is an ancient and docile species, but unfortunately is rare and endangered. Fish Rock is one of the few diving sites in Australia where Grey Nurse Sharks can be found all year round. During winter time you will also find Humpback Whales passing though. Imagine watching the sharks cruise around the gutters at Fish Rock with whales singing in the background – an experience not to be missed!
As well as having great dives, we want you to have a great holiday. We are a PADI 5 Star Gold Palm Resort and pride ourselves on our service. Our accommodation, diving, educational and recreational facilities all work together to ensure that every single diver has an amazing experience and can take home memories that will last forever.

It doesn’t matter if you are diving alone or as part of a group, we have dive packages to suit everyone’s needs! We dive 7 days a week all year round, so contact one of our friendly members of staff who will be more than happy to help plan your dive.

We take great pride in our personal service and the great atmosphere that we offer. Most of our divers come to us from “word of mouth” recommendations – dive with Fish Rock and find out why so many divers recommend us and return again and again to dive with us.
