    Music On Festival line-up

Emboldened by the success of the launch event, Marco Carola’s much anticipated Music On Festival will expand to two days on the weekend of May 5th and 6th.

The line-up boasts a series of acclaimed acts including two special sets from boss Marco alongside the return of The Martinez Brothers, Loco Dice and Apollonia as well as Music On Residents Stacey Pullen, Joey Daniel and of course Leon, with more names to be announced.

Here we take a look back at 5 of Leon’s finest tracks.

Train to Hubert Street – Fiore EP – Monique Musique

Fiore EP made its way onto Canada’s Monique Music in 2011 and delivered clean breaks underneath sharp hi-hat rhythms, smooth melodies and a range of expertly selected samples resulting and euphoric display of Leon’s musical versatility.

Driver – Walking EP – IWW Music

Taken from the Walking EP released on Munich’s IWW Music Label in 2012, ‘Driver’ delivers crisp percussion and sharp transitions which sit beneath eerie atmospheres, warped vocal samples and a hypnotic synth riff to deliver an unquestionably powerful dancefloor cut.

China Tavern – China Tavern EP – Waveform Recordings

The title track from 2012’s China Tavern EP courtesy of New York-based label Waveform Recordings sets the tone for the release with a robust drum-track and pulsating sub-bass which lay the foundation for an array of obscure vocal cuts and enveloping atmospheres.

Unknown Dubby – The Return of The Jedi EP – Moan Recordings

The Return of The Jedi EP landed on Moan Recordings in 2013 displaying Leon’s refined and impactful productions. ‘Unknown Dubby‘ breaks down and builds tension with ethereal pads and haunting overtones layered with stretched out samples before dropping back heavyweight percussion and a series of intertwining synthesiser rhythms.

Tribalism – Bamako EP – Deeperfect Records

Leon’s first release of 2018, Bamako EP dropped on Deeperfect in January. The aptly named A-side ‘Tribalism’, offers up a mesmerising tribal sample which sits above shuffling percussion while hypnotic acid lines float through the composition. Leon seamlessly combines all of these elements to create a truly engrossing track.
