Cat Stevens’ Melody in Melbourne
Ever want to know the life story and what happened to that swarthy-looking, curly-haired gentleman that sang Peace Train, then became a devout Muslim, changed his name to Yusuf Islam, and supposedly didn’t think it such a bad idea for someone to cut Salman Rushdie’s head off?
Well, The Cat Stevens Story will present through words and music, the journey that was the Cat Stevens legend.
In 1979, at the height of his career, Stevens quit the music business and auctioned off all of his equipment in order to dedicate himself to his new passions. Accompanied with his band, The Tillermen, Paul Dillon will go through 22 of Cat Stevens’ melodic greatest hits.
When: 23 – 27 June 2010
Where: Athenaeum Theatre, 188 Collins Street
Cost: $35 – $49 (available from ticketmaster.com)
