Mettams Pool, 20 Minutes Drive
Mettams Pool is one of the most popular destinations for snorkelers in Perth. Mettam’s is a natural rock pool protected by a surrounding reef. Beyond the safety of the rock pool, there are plenty of reefs to explore. Mettam’s Pool makes a great starting point for a mini snorkeling expedition. Burns Beach, 30 Minutes Drive
Burns Beach has a huge area of sheltered rocky reef that stretches north beyond the sand, a great place to Snorkel. Look out for seabirds, dolphins, sea lions, rays and a huge diversity of other species from the lookout points. Down while Snorkelling you get to have the chance to catch a glimpse of Dhufish.
Shoalwater Islands Marine Park, 52 Minutes Drive
The Shoalwater Islands Marine Park is another snorkeling paradise for those in the south. It includes the waters of Shoalwater Bay, Warnbro Sound and a small part of Cockburn Sound, as well as a few islands. Reefs in shallow waters around the islands are popular snorkeling spots, but make sure you’re there before the sea breeze hits.
Marine Parks, reefs, and shipwrecks make for excellent diving, snorkeling, and wildlife watching in the Shoalwater Islands Marine Park. The reefs surrounding the islands provide good snorkeling and diving and abound in marine life including sea stars, urchins and mollusks as well as a number of fish species.
Penguin Island, 47 Minutes Drive
Penguin Island is a favorite spot for a snorkel. Between the coast and the island is a calm stretch of water with some of our more fascinating wildlife. Seals and Dolphins frequent the area and if you’re lucky you may even see the resident Sea Lions or Fairy Penguins taking a dip.
