Setting off from Broome
As you meet your fellow comrades setting off from Broome you’ll head to the banks of the Fitzroy River to enjoy morning tea before hitting the Gibb River Road. On the way you’ll visit the Mowanjum Aboriginal Art & Cultural Centre which will set you up with some knowledge about the Worrorra, Ngarinyin and Wunumbal tribes ahead of your trip. From here it’s on to Tunnel Creek to explore the 750 metre cave system that weaves through the Napier Range. And then a night camping under the starry Kimberley night sky.
The Napier Range
Over the next few days you will explore the ancient 350 million year old Napier Range as well as the imposing Windjana Gorge. It’s here that you’ll be able to spot from freshwater crocodiles, local birdlife and indulge in some real bush tucker. From here you’ll visit Bell Gorge. An idyllic retreat tucked away in the West Kimberleys, this area boasts cascading waterfalls and crystal clear billabongs just perfect for cooling off in.
But the stunning natural landscape doesn’t stop in Bell Gorge, back on to the Gibb River Road you’ll reach the water lily-laden Galvans Gorge and Adcock Gorge. It’s here you’ll also find the stunning Manning Falls where you’ll be able to swim in the deep, clear pools and take in the Aussie wildlife before spending a night camping by a billabong on Mt Barnett Cattle Station.
Purnululu National Park
The tour continues taking you to Kununurra and Lake Argyle before reaching Purnululu National Park where the Bungle Bungle Ranges await. Only the locals knew about the huge beehive shaped mountains until the 80s when a film crew “discovered” them. Nearby to the Bungle Bungles you’ll also find the Echidna Chasm, Cathedral Gorge and plenty of wildlife.
Your tour of the Kimberley Region will also take you to the impressive China Wall Explore The Kimberley Wilderness , the adventurous Fitzroy Crossing and to Geikie Gorge before concluding back in Broome. This is truly Kimberley cultural adventures, giving you the best of all the attractions.
