What’s on at the Harbour Theatre

Perth is getting ready to celebrate Christmas in style with many events and activities including carols, concerts, pageants as well as lights and decorations. If you’re looking for a unique gift, why not head to one of the many Christmas Markets.

Christmas Lights Trail

The Christmas Light Trail is back for the third year and the city will shine brighter with 27 mesmerising Christmas light installations and vibrant Christmas decorations lighting up the evenings. Select from three mapped out journeys throughout the Perth CBD, Northbridge and East Perth or go your own way as you marvel at the stunning animated lights, festive street decorations, lively projections and festivities that brighten malls, streets and parks across the city.


There will be roving entertainment on each Friday and Saturday nights (6-9 pm) at Forrest Chase, Rain Square, Kings Square and Perth Cultural Centre. In addition, there is entertainment throughout the malls during the day on Saturday and Sunday. On the launch night there will be various roaming entertainment, plus an appearance from Santa at Stirling Gardens, next to the Santa sleigh and more!

Magic of Christmas

There’s no place like The Wanneroo Botanic Gardens to spend the festive season with your loved ones. Experience the park’s 2nd annual Christmas light display; play Mini Golf, dine at the onsite restaurant Leapfrogs or simply basque in the ambience of the 7m high Christmas tree and the brand new light features added this year. Spectator admission to the Gardens is just $5 or free for Guests dinning in the restaurant or playing Mini Golf.

Lights are on from 7 pm – 10 pm Wednesday to Sunday nights.

It excludes 25 and 26 December 2019.

Mandurah Cruises Christmas Lights Cruise

Experience some festive magic on board Mandurah Cruises famous Christmas Lights Cruise – Mandurah and Perth’s best Christmas lights. Experience the magic of Christmas with your friends and family aboard our Christmas Lights Cruise. Sing along to Christmas carol favourites and join in the Christmas cheer as you cruise through the wonderland of Christmas lights reflecting onto the water from Mandurah’s luxury canal homes.


This annual event sees Mandurah’s luxury canal homes decorated with millions of lights and amazing Christmas themed-displays. Expect traditional Christmas trees, Santas, snowmen, reindeer & sleds, twinkling stars and snow globes plus the Aussie touch of dolphins & kangaroos in displays, opulent stairways, private jetties, watercraft and joyful carols sung from the balconies. The festive atmosphere is spiced with free photo opportunities at the ferry terminal and Christmas carollers entertaining guests as they wait to board their cruise.


Departs every night from 1st  December at 7.30 pm  2019 until 5th  January 2020.

Mandurah Houseboats Christmas Lights Cruise

Gather your family ad friends and cruise the Famous Mandurah Canals Christmas Lights Display with Mandurah Houseboats.  They have a guided party pontoon available for you to hire, sit back, relax and cruise this wonderful display while you indulge in your B.Y.O drinks and snacks. They can either play your own Christmas Playlist or are happy to play DJ too. 1hr 15min is ample time to see all of the canals. They have two departure times each night from 1st December to 6th January.  Extra hours can be arranged with your driver charged at an hourly rate.

Christmas Lights Cruise runs every night from 7:30 – 8:45 pm and 9 – 10:15 pm

Christmas Carols, Concerts and Movies

Get into the spirit of Christmas and sing-a-long to your favourite carols and watch your favourite festive films in Perth.

Festive flicks for kids at Northbridge piazza

Festive Flicks are back at the Northbridge Piazza with free Christmas movies on the big screen every Saturday from 16 November to 21 December.

*The Korean Film Festival will take place on 30 November, therefore no Festive Flicks will take place.

Sidewalk Sounds

Sidewalk Sounds in Perth City will brighten up your lunchtime and get you in the festive spirit. Over the course of four weeks, there will be free Christmas tunes, performed by a variety of talented musicians.

Carols by Candle light

What is Christmas without this special night

There is nothing more beautiful or more evocative of Christmas than a large choir in a beautiful church singing your favourite carols, and you in the audience with your program lit by candlelight, joining in for the most well-known ones.  Gather your friends and family and come along to Carols by Candlelight presented by Perth Symphonic Chorus at the Redemptorist Monastery in North Perth.

Travelling Dementia Bus Fund

Join at the interval and afterwards for champagne, with proceeds going to the travelling Dementia Bus Fund. WA’s first purpose-built community dementia bus has been launched to provide respite and information to dementia carers, give people living with dementia access to VR technology and bring education and awareness to schools.

Brass on the Grass

Start the festivities early with the annual City of Perth and East Perth Community Group Inc Brass on the Grass community concert. Pack a picnic and join your local community members on the green while listening to the smooth sounds of the Australian Girls’ Choir and the City of Perth Band. There will be a kids fun zone, a community raffle and a special visit from Santa.

Darren Hanlon: Christmas show

For the past 14 years, Darren Hanlon has been performing his beloved Christmas shows across the nation. It is just him, his guitar and a whole lot of lyrical songs and stories drawn from his adventures around the globe.  Hanlon is one of Australia’s most respected singer songwriters, known for his charming urban folk and down to earth storytelling on-stage. He has released five solo albums, four EPs and nine singles in his illustrious solo career.

Outdoor Movie at Mandoon estate: Elf

Get along to Mandoon Estate to enjoy a screening of ELF (Rated PG). Nothing beats lying under the stars and watching a movie with friends and family. Enjoy the picturesque gardens at Mandoon Estate, grab a bite to eat and sample the award winning wines and beers.  There’s plenty for the kids with a bouncy castle, lawn games and live music before the screening at sunset.

Perth City Christmas Carnivals

Supreme Court Gardens will be the place for fun in the four weekends leading up to Christmas! Stop by before heading into the malls to do your Christmas shopping and take advantage of the free gift wrapping in Forrest Place. The Christmas Carnivals will feature a mammoth range of amusement rides, bouncy inflatable fun, Christmas movies, a silent disco, mini golf and giant games. Santa will also visit the Carnivals between 10 am and 11 am every day.

Mandurah Community Christmas Pageant

Come and experience the wonder of Christmas at the 2019 Mandurah Christmas Pageant presented by ACTON Mandurah. This wonderful tradition sees local community groups and businesses parade their floats through Mandurah’s CBD from 6 pm. After the parade head to the foreshore where you can visit Santa’s Grotto, watch the live nativity scene, take part in the FREE letter to Santa workshop, enjoy the Free amusements, listen to the wonderful Christmas carols and enjoy a fireworks finale at 8.30 pm.

Victoria Quay Christmas Carnival

Come down to Victoria Quay for free Christmas fun for all ages on the vibrant waterfront at Fremantle Port. The Quay to Summer program kicks off with a fun-packed carnival of rides, live music, food and family-friendly entertainment in Fremantle’s premier dockside location, Victoria Quay.

Activities for kids

Kids will enjoy an Elf Show, skate workshops, face painting, giant bubbles and of course, a visit from Santa himself, while big kids can grab a bite to eat from a selection of food trucks, groove along to the sounds of WA Samba and take in great roving performances. All set against the stunning backdrop of ships moving through the Port.
