Picnic With the Teddy Bears

When: Sunday 10 March 2019

Beneath the trees, where nobody sees, they’ll hide and seek as long as they please because that’s the way teddy bears have their picnic.

This annual event helps raise awareness of threatened species like the Sun Bears, who are severely affected by habitat destruction, poaching and the restaurant trade in Southeast Asia.

There’ll be loads to keep you entertained including some  special fairy and pirate guests, as well as lots of other roving characters. There’ll also be an area transformed into Wonderland, with giant games and some more  special guests to play with.

Volunteer as a Zoo Docent

When:

  • Saturday, 6 April 2019 – 10:00
  • Sunday, 7 April 2019 – 10:00
  • Saturday, 4 April 2020 – 10:00
  • Sunday, 5 April 2020 – 10:00

The Perth Zoo Docent Association is looking for friendly, outgoing people 18 years and over, who are good communicators, physically fit and can commit at least two days a month from 9 am until 3 pm.

Come along to the free information session to learn more about the role and duties of Docents. We’ll start in the Zoo’s comfortable theatre, and then one of the experienced volunteers will walk with you around the zoo and show you exactly what being a Docent entails.

Those who wish to proceed with their applications will be interviewed and successful applicants will then be required to undertake an intensive and mind-bulging training course across ten consecutive Saturdays between April and June.
