Wide Open Space Festival 2020
There’s a lot to take in when you visit Central Australia. The spiritual heart of the country is renowned for its sacred topography and a trip to the likes of Ayers Rock and Kata Tjuta is a must for anyone who wants to take in Australia’s Red Centre. Now you can add something else to your itinerary, a trip to Wide Open Space Festival.
The festival is run by an independent team of locals who are deeply invested in the event and the area in which it’s located. That’s why the festival acknowledges and pays respects the Arrernte people who are the traditional owners and custodians of the land which hosts the event. For a packed and transformative three days, Wide Open Space doesn’t just happen, it becomes part of the majestic MacDonnell Ranges themselves.
The stages host a broad range of acts including folk, live hip hop, cabaret and even burlesque yet the landscape becomes its very own stage. You will be part of it; briefly part of a landscape of rocks, sand and River Red Gum trees. This is only the latest transformation for the region; 700 million years ago the geology was first laid down then 400 million years ago the Ranges were formed. Wide Open Space has been devised with the landscape in view with a line-up that is inspired by the surrounding desert culture.
Australia’s most centred arts and music festival returns after a year off and will run from Friday 1st May to Sunday 3rd May 2020. Now the festival invites you to become part of another metamorphosis.
