2016-17 Occupations List Released by ACT

Follow us on Google News

The government of the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) has just come out with their occupations list yesterday for the Skilled Nominated Subclass 190 Visa for the program year of 2016 to 2017.

How important is this?

The Skilled Nominated Visa Subclass 190 is a permanent type of visa which is going to allow an individual to settle anywhere in either the state or territory that has sponsored them.

This visa has a wider scope of occupations compared to the Skilled Independent Subclass 198 visa, as the applicant can possibly have any occupation that is on the Consolidated Sponsored Occupations List (CSOL) which has more than 600 occupations versus the Skilled Occupations List (SOL), which only has around 190 occupations.

For the state nomination, the applicant will also be getting an extra 5 points.

Aside from all these, the occupational ceilings are not related to the state nominated visas. You will also be eligible to become a priority when it comes to SkillSelect.

The Occupations that have been added to the list.

Occupations have been added in the specialisations of design, engineering, human resources, and real estate. Most of these occupations were not part of the Skilled Occupations List, and are actually quite hard to get a nomination for in other territories or states.

If one of these categories is your occupation, then a nomination from the Australian Capital Territory could very well be an opportunity that can turn your life around:

233511 Industrial Engineer

233512 Mechanical Engineer

233513 Production or Plant Engineer

612114 Real Estate Agent

612115 Real Estate Representative

The Occupations which have been taken out of the list:

Occupations in the specialisations of hospitality, legal, management consulting, marketing, and nursing have all been removed.

131112 Sales and Marketing Manager

131113 Advertising Manager

131114 Public Relations Manager

133211 Engineering Manager

224711 Management Consultant

224712 Organisation and Methods Analyst

271311 Solicitor

411411 Enrolled Nurse

411412 Mothercraft Nurse

How can one qualify to be nominated by the ACT:

Aside from having a skills assessment in one of the occupations on the ACT list, you are also going to need to present proof of the following:

Adequate funds for you to settle in the Australian Capital Territory

Proof that you are employable in ACT

Your ability to converse in the English language

If you are living in Australia at present, you may also be asked to provide proof that you have been a resident or have studied in Canberra for a period of time.

In conclusion, the release of the Occupations List of ACT is indeed a big opportunity for those who possess the skills that are in demand in Canberra right now.
