3 Day Rock The Centre Tour
Over three days, the 3 Day Rock The Centre tour with Adventure Tours Australia visits one of Australia’s most iconic landmarks, Uluru (Ayers Rock), as well as its nearby brother and sister, Kings Canyon and Kata Tjuta.
Travelling by minibus and camping under the stars, this is a true adventure of the Red Centre starting and finishing in the outback town of Alice Springs, and begins with a very unique experience with a stop at a camel farm. The opportunity to take a ride on a camel’s back offers a completely different perspective of the desert, and is well worth the extra expense.
After meeting the camels, it’s onto Uluru for lunch and a stop at the 36 domes of Kata Tjuta, also known as the Olgas. On a Valley of the Winds hike, you can get up close to this ancient rock formation, before watching the sunset over Uluru, enjoying a group dinner and getting down for the night in your swag, otherwise known as an Australian bedroll.
Wake up early on day two to catch the colours of Uluru during sunrise. Before the heat picks up, take a stroll around the base of Uluru and then learn about the Aboriginal culture that’s so important to the local area from your guide. A visit to the Cultural Centre provides an opportunity to buy some Aboriginal arts and crafts, followed by a drive to Watarrka National Park – home of Kings Canyon – where you’ll be spending another night under the stars.
The morning of day three calls for another hike as you explore the walls and caverns of Kings Canyon. A natural amphitheatre, you can take in its sheer size and beauty as you explore the Lost City, the Garden of Eden and the North and South Walls, before heading back to Alice Springs.
The 3 Day Rock The Centre tour costs $395pp and includes minibus transport, camping fees and equipment, national park entry fees, an experienced guide and two breakfasts, three lunches and two dinners.
