5 Indie Songs To Listen To This Weekend
Now the weekend is upon us, it’s time to sit back and relax, and listen to some of the best indie songs that have kept us all entertained recently.
Kelis – ‘Rumble’
We’re loving the new Kelis record and ‘Rumble’ isn’t only one of the best songs on the album, it’s got a really fun video to go with it. See for yourself.
Damon Albarn – ‘Mr. Tembo’
Quite possibly the best song to ever have been written about an elephant. ‘Mr. Tembo’ almost feels like it has nothing to do on Albarn’s ‘Everyday Robots’ album, but it’s so damn catchy and joyful we can’t get enough of it. It’s even better live, especially with Jimmy Kimmel’s out of breath introduction.

Geronimo! – ‘Spitting In The Ocean’
This is the latest song Chicago-based rock band Geronimo! have unveiled from their upcoming ‘Cheap Trick’ album due on 13th May. It’s somewhere between Big Ups (whose new record ‘Eighteen Hours of Static’ is warmly recommended) and Parquet Courts and it’s pretty damn explosive.
Sinkane – ‘Runnin’
It came out in 2012 on a record called ‘Mars’, but feel-good weekend music doesn’t get much better than that. And in case you missed out on Sinkane, his unique brand of Funk will floor you in a matter of seconds.
Blank Realm – ‘Reach You On The Phone’
One of the best Australian bands of the moment, the three siblings of Blank Realm have released their third album ‘Grassed In’ in January this year. It sounds very much like a lot of 1980s music, but the tunes are topnotch and quite frankly, irresistible!
