The Grand Palace, Bangkok
This historically rich complex in not one to be missed! It’s a crime to visit a country and not spend some of your time looking into the culture and heritage. At the Grand Palace you’ll find incredible history. Make sure you check out the Emerald Buddha located in the Wat Phra Kaew, plus you’ll get to see where Thailand’s Royal ceremonies are held.
Koh San Road, Bangkok
The one and only Koh San Road is a famous backpacker street in the Banglamphu area of Bangkok. As a hub for travellers it’s the most absorbing and lively part of the City. The pavements are lined with stalls selling street food, clothing and souvenirs so brush up on those bargaining skills! In the evening you’ll find some of the craziest nightlife in Asia.
Experience remote Thailand, Sangkhlaburi
Of course Thailand is iconic for buzzing marketing, temples and amazing beaches and these are all on the lists, however the country also has astonishing rural landscapes which will quite simply take your breath away! Sangkhlaburi is only 6 hours from Bangkok but provides a true glimpse into Northern Thailand. You’ll find jungles, villages, rolling hillsides, rivers and the Khao Laem Reservoir.
Volunteer with Elephants, Surin
Have you ever wanted to get up close to elephants? This is the perfect place to do so. The Surin province is home to Tha Thum ‘District of Elephants’. Here you can become part of a local Thai community and get the opportunity to volunteer with these incredible gentle giants by bathing and feeding elephants.
Full Moon Party, Koh Pha-Ngan
Most people have heard of Thai moon parties and rightly so. These bad boys started off in the 1980’s and have grown into the huge occasions (more like festivals) that they are now. There are a number of different variations of moon parties differing in size and feel but it would be crazy to miss out on the chance of partying on the shoreline of a gorgeous moonlit Thai island!
Scuba Diving Course, Koh Tao
You simply cannot go to Thailand without scuba diving and Koh Tao is the absolute diving mecca! As a sheltered island in the Gulf of Thailand it has the perfect conditions throughout the year. There are also sorts of dives you can do, whether it’s deep water or close to the coast. Diving courses are well worth as you can secure an international qualification recognised around the world and a very reasonable cost in one of the best spots in the world!
