Alan Walker Interview

Follow us on Google News

We chat to the wonderful Alan Walker.

Alan released his single ”Faded” on December 4th, 2015. Shortly after its release the song sky-rocketed to the top of the Spotify and iTunes charts around the world, making him one of music’s hottest new names in 2016. We caught up with Alan Walker to see how 2016 is treating him, and found out what to expect for the rest of the year.

1. Hi Alan, thanks for chatting to us today! How are you at the moment?

Heya! Thanks for having me! I’m doing great!

2. How does it feel hitting the top 5 in almost every European country with “Faded”?

To be honest, it feels very surrealistic! I never in my life imagined that one of my tracks would top the charts when I uploaded my first track on YouTube back in 2012!

3. Radio 1 has also supported you a lot recently, are you enjoying your success on the radio?

Of course I am! It’s so weird to hear from people around the world telling me that they heard my track on the radio, and it’s very weird when I hear it myself!

4. Can we get excited for any new releases coming up?

Yeah you can! I’m very excited myself! I have been working really hard lately to prepare a new track to be released soon!

5. Have you got any tours planned in the next year?

I have a European summer tour coming up and I can’t wait for it to start!

6. You said you found a track on Youtube that inspired you to start producing yourself, what track was that?

We have to go a long way back then. I’m not 100% sure which track it was but the artist that inspired me was ‘DJ Ness’.

7. Where do you see yourself this time next year?

To be honest, I don’t know! Hopefully around where I am now and having a gig sometimes. Its hard to say, because everything changes and there are new things that pops up the whole time!

8. “Faded” has done so well across the world, now reaching over 150million views on Youtube. Did you ever expect this level of success?

After the success with the original track Fade I was sort off expecting some success, but what has happened to Faded went way beyond what me and my team expected. There is no way that I was expecting to pass over 100/200 million streams on YouTube and Spotify.

9. Do you think you will ever move away from electronic music or if that your favourite to produce?

The only time I will move away from electronic music is if the genre itself dies. I would have to follow the stream if I want to keep it up! So I have to do what it takes.

10. Thanks so much and good luck!
