Album Review: Apollonia – Fabric 70

Apollonia are the Parisian-based trio made up of Dan Ghenacia, Dyed Soundorom and Shonky, and together they have joined forces once more to bring us the next installment of the acclaimed fabric compilation series: fabric 70. The famous London nightclub has been showcasing the best electronic music for years, and this edition of the compilation gives you the perfect opportunity to own a piece of the action.

Apollonia’s unmistakable energy has been applied to creating fabric 70, which was completed over an intense six-week lock down period in the trio’s Berlin studio earlier this year.

The mix includes fresh cuts from the likes of The Mole on his new Maybe Tomorrow imprint, Dyed Soundorom’s buzzing re-rub of Daze Maxim’s ‘Farbfilm’ and new Apollonia releases from the boys themselves, made especially for this unique album.

Each track bounces to the next with a startling attention to detail that can be felt within. The trio has managed to put across their own style of mixing on each track without slipping from the high level of production value.
Elements of the record reach back to the late 90s with the atmospheric pads of Nail’s ‘I’ve Been There’ included from ’97, the uplifting summery grooves of Mood 2 Swing feat. John Ciafone ‘Ohh’ from ’96 and Callisto’s ‘Need Ur Love’, also from ’97.

It’s a diverse mix of top-notch tunes you’ll never want to turn off.
