Allyson Ezell New Single Release
Newcomer Allyson Ezell has never been one for linear progressions Originally born in the heart of the American Midwest, Iowa. Ezell spent most of her time zigzagging through cities, jobs, love and loss.
Her road to music making hasn’t been a direct one. Having spent the last few years behind the music scenes crafting her brand of aerodynamic and quirky pop.
Allyson Ezell is part of a new generation of artists who have discovered a new pop sound that is both unique and invigorating. Ezell will be releasing her debut album early 2015 but for now the songstress has released new single Landmine along with a B-side called Beat This Drum.
Landmine is a mix of electronic synthesizers, defining percussion and Ezell’s alluring vocals. . Ezell speaks to the listeners directly, telling a story of war, a war of love and a love no more. She then carries into singing, describing her heart as a landmine and apologizing for any of the damage that may ensue. As she politely tells us, ‘I’m a landmine, watch your step.’
Beat This Drum is a spacious track allowing room for synthesizers and alluring vocals to contain more than regular accompaniment. Defining percussion, synths and drumbeat are both stark and open and create an eclectic backdrop to Ezell’s vocals. Allyson has created a sound that is both intriguing and eccentric. The upfront quirkiness of the arrangement shows what a formidable force in pop she is, and she has already been compared to the likes of St Vincent, Bjork and Cocteau Twins.
Landmine and B-side Beat This Drum will be available to download on the 19th January 2015.
