Jenny Morris together with Nordoff-Robbins Music therapy are delighted to once again bring one of Sydney’s most unique and dynamic fundraising events, Art of Music, to the Art Gallery of New South Wales on Saturday, 2 June, 2012.

From the overwhelming success of the inaugural event in 2006, Art of Music has become one of the most anticipated events on the calendar and is a bi-annual event which combines the mediums of visual art and music. Ten prominent contemporary visual artists from Australia and New Zealand come together to create a uniquely music inspired exhibition with each artist choosing an iconic piece of Australian music, using it as inspiration for their own original artwork, culminating in the Art of Music Charity Auction and a sumptuous Gala Dinner, with some very special guests and live entertainment.

The field of amazing artists presenting works for 2012 are: Lucy Culliton, Nicholas Harding, Euan Macleod, Guy Maestri, Amanda Marburg, James Powditch, Ben Quilty, Luke Sciberras, Alexander Seton and Peter Sharp. Bio information on each of the artists, as well as their chosen piece of music, can be found at www.artofmusic.com.au/#artists.

Among the works being shown is a Peter O’Doherty original which is proudly presented as one of the major raffle prizes.

Art of Music is thrilled to announce that multi-ARIA Award winning singer/songwriter, Megan Washington, will be a special guest performer on the night. Megan Washington has recently returned to Australia from her New York base to take up a role as mentor on The Voice, is the first of several performance announcements to be made over the coming weeks.

All proceeds from the Gala Dinner and Charity Auction go to Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy who transform lives through music. Registered Music Therapists use the power of music in live and interactive sessions to help people cope with the struggles of living with a wide range of needs. These include children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities, autism, trauma, illness, dementia, behaviour disorders and learning difficulties.
