Artist Profile: Fred V & Grafix
A pair of producers that have been working together for the last five years, Fred V & Grafix have been heard on BBC Radio 1Xtra and Annie Mac’s show since signing to Hospital at the end of 2011. With the arrival of their debut EP in March 2013, they have since been taking the music industry by storm.
While they began in live music, the duo switched to Drum & Bass upon hearing Pendulum’s ‘Hold Your Colour’ and High Contrast’s ‘High Society’ and have since remixed the likes of Emeli Sande, Skepta and Rudimental. They have a range of influences from French House to Hip-Hop and are inspired by Flying Lotus, Bonobo, Dilla and Jimi Hendrix, hence the eclectic sound that they produce themselves.
After signing with Hospital, Fred V & Grafix appeared on the ‘Fifteen Years Of Hospital Records’ album and continue to make waves across the label. They contributed to Sick Music 3 with the addictive ‘Major Happy’ and awesome ‘Purple Gates’, and we’re all awaiting the release of their debut album, ‘Recognise’ at the end of March, following the arrival of the title track on 17th. They are due to tour Australia, New Zealand and America all before the European summer season, making this year their biggest yet.
