Ashea Interview
Our most recent one to watch, Ashea is the new dance-pop star to look out for. With a honed vocal ability, wicked style and dedication to succeed, Ashea is from the small coastal town of Hastings, but has gone onto record in the USA where she met Destiny’s Child’s Kelly Rowland and will be releasing her second single, ‘Let You Go’ in the UK on 25th January. To find out more about this new sensation, we shot Ashea with six questions on songwriting, success, aspirations.
Hi Ashea, how are you and what have you been up to recently?
Hi, Im good thanks! I´ve been really busy lately writing for the album and jamming.
You’re following up your debut single ‘Watcha Thinkin’’ with ‘Let You Go’; what direction do you want to take your music and what influences your songwriting?
I´m definitely a big fan of pop music, I´m really into old school R&B and hip hop too so Im looking to fuse them together and create something fabulous that has an emotional impact on people, whether it makes them happy, sad, or just want to dance!
We heard you had a little chat with a certain Ms Kelly Rowland when you were honing your craft in the USA; what was it like meeting her?
Meeting Kelly was a really great experience for me as Ive always been a big fan of hers. She´s a very high achiever, a go getter and a mega star but also incredibly nice and modest- that´s something I hope to never forget.
Whose success would you like to emulate?
Definitely Kelly Rowland or Pharrell – he’s incredible.
What are your plans for 2015? Do you have any live shows or appearances organised where people can catch you?
2015 is an exciting year for me. There’ll be an album out soon, and if you watch this space I´ll be putting up live dates.
Is there a festival, city or venue that you’d most like to perform at?
The O2 Arena.
