Australian Business Visa to Emigrate to Australia
Officially known as the Business Innovation and Investment (Provisional) visa (subclass 188), this visa is a step for residence to people who hope to manage or own a new or existing business in Australia.
A permanent visa can often follow when you are the holder of this particular temporary visa.
Length of Stay:
The Business Innovation and Investment visa lasts up to four years starting from the day it is granted. You may be able to extend your stay, but you can only apply for one extension. Depending on whether you are in the Business Innovation or Significant Investor stream, this could be from two to four years.
Specific Requirements:
There are three streams for the Business Innovation and Investment visa. The first is the Business Innovation stream, which is for people with existing business skills. You should apply for this if you are working to develop or manage a new or existing business in Australia. The investor stream is for people who plan on investing at least AUD 1.5 million in an Australian state or territory. You must also maintain business and investment activity in Australia. Lastly is the significant investor stream, which is for people who can invest at least AUD 5 million into complying investments in Australia along with maintaining business and investment activity in Australia.
Permissions:
This visa allows you to establish and develop new or existing businesses and invest in Australia. You can travel inside and outside of Australia for the duration of your visa, bring family members to Australia and apply for permanent residence through the Business Innovation and Investment (Permanent) visa.
Restrictions:
You have first to submit an Expression of Interest. You then may be invited through SkillSelect, the online programme that connects agencies to your applications. You must specify which stream you are planning to apply under and how many Australian states or territories you are willing to do business or invest.
