Avoiding the Worst Recruitment Agencies
If you’re new to using recruitment agencies to find work then you will want to keep an eye open for those that don’t conduct themselves in the professional manner in which you would expect.
Remember, that these recruiters are working on a commission basis so be aware that you are not just being shipped out to interviews so that you land them a pretty bonus. In any circumstance where you are advised to go for a job that you have zero interest in then you should not be strong armed into going to the interview.
There’s the horror story of one recruiter who had sent someone to the same company three times for a permanent job in a year. The second time her had advised her to use her maiden name so not to cause suspicion. The recruiter had received $20,000 in commission from the woman he had put into the jobs.
Remember that without you the recruiters cannot make their money and it if your professional future that is to be decided. So, keep true to what field you are looking to find work. Keep an eye out for recruitment agencies whose focus is short term and if the recruiter is new to the business he/she will not have the connection to tap into.
