B-boy, B-girl And Hip Hop Action At Rich Mix
This March and April, as winter finally thaws into spring, Rich Mix brings the heat with Grandma’s Party (30 March) and Breakin’ Brass (6 April), two celebrations of B-boy and B-girl culture infused with the hottest hip-hop and brass sounds.
Grandma’s Party (Friday 30 March) is a new night featuring the best in UK Hip Hop DJs and upcoming talent. Sister Elements headlines, showcasing tracks from her new album due for release later in the year and there will also be DJ sets from Sarah Love, Excalibah and DJ Anarkali as well as hip-hop sets and dance performances from James Gill, Rain Freedom and Ella Mesma.
The event will also feature an exclusive screening of the new film Hip Hop Had A Dream featuring TY, Bashy and Ghostface Killah. The event has been curated by Sarah Sayeed, a singer songwriter who works with guitars, soul and hip hop beats, whilst being influenced by a tradition of Indian sonatas.
A week later on Friday 6 April East London legends Brassroots take the format of a hip hop night and spin it on its head. Brassroots are unstoppable in their mission to create and maintain a flourishing brass band scene in London. Breakn’ Brass combines brass bands with a B-Boy competition. Leave your preconception about brass at the door as they will be null and void after this epic night.
