Best of the Brits at the Sydney Comedy Festival
The Sydney Comedy Festival launched in 2005 and now attracts over 110,000 patrons every year. The 2016 event rounds up the best international comedians in the world. Here’s our top picks of the best of the British comedians in the mix.
Daniel Sloss
If you’ve seen our recent interview with the man himself, you know that Daniel Sloss started performing down under since he was nineteen. Now 25, Sloss sold out 8 consecutive Edinburgh Fringe seasons and is no doubt one of the most important rising comedy stars in the UK. Catch Sloss at the Enmore Theatre in 13th May.
Ross Noble
The spontaneous Ross Noble invites you for a huge Brain Dump at the Sydney Town Hall from 23 to 24 April. If his Twitter-powered TV show Freewheeling is of any indication, his on-stage performance will be equally exuberant, random, and hilarious. Read our recent interview with Ross Noble here to find out more about Freewheeling and using a trouser press for a hairdryer.
Paul Foot
This English comedian, famed for his pop culture rants, has an entire guild of connoisseurs dedicated to him. You can expect a quirky and thoughtful performance that befits such a strong and unique following. Catch an hour of Paul Foot from 20 to 21 April in The Comedy Store.
Stephen K Amos
The maestro of feel-good comedy returns for a string of live shows in Australia. His shows from 6 to 7 May will include ‘carefully honed, crafted material with a soupcon of ironic flair.’ Read more about his influences and the worst joke he’s ever heard in our recent interview with Stephen K Amos here.
Joel Dommett
You’ve probably seen Joel Dommett on Skins, Live in Chelsea, and Impractical Jokers UK, but this is the chance to catch his energetic and charming Sydney debut. Go see this up-and-coming English comedian at The Enmore Theatre from 21 to 24 April, as he sets out to find a stranger he wants to ‘spend the rest of his life with.’
