Beyond Blue Fundraiser at GOODGOD Small Club – 14th Jan
In light of the cancellation of the Dro Carey Show due to Carey’s ongoing struggle with depression, GOODGOD Small Club and Astral People have decided to address the issue with some agency. Thus, they have replaced Saturday’s gig with a Beyond Blue charity event with 100% of all door proceeds and 50% of all bar proceedings going to “Beyond Blue” to help those struggling with depression.
They are hoping that the Sydney electronic music scene and others alike will band together to support this very relevant cause. One of the greatest misconceptions is that depression is something that affects only those of old age, however it’s prevalence amongst youth today is quite substantial. Their aim with this event is to increase awareness of the condition amongst younger generations and in turn take a small step in helping those with the mental illness get the help and support they deserve.
Beyond Blue Mission Statement:
“Our mission is to provide a national focus and community leadership to increase the capacity of the broader Australian community to prevent depression and respond effectively. We aim to build a society that understands and responds to the personal and social impact of depression, works actively to prevent it, and improves the quality of life for everyone affected.”
