Beyond Retro London Fashion Week Music Event
On Saturday 14th September, BBM attended the London Fashion Week Music Event at Beyond Retro, celebrating the best in vintage clothing, independent music and the introduction of exciting new flavours of Kopparberg.
Walking up to Beyond Retro on Cheshire Street, just off of the famous Brick Lane, we were met by silver balloons flashing in the daylight and a group of braces-wearing men leaning against the wall and sipping cider out of plastic tumblers. Once inside, a live band was already going and attracting quite a crowd, while the small bar was friendly and almost too easy to grab a drink (or three!). With the stage in the men’s half of the store, the women’s section was free to browse and peruse, drink in hand.
One aspect of Beyond Retro that will hit you is the best trends of the past five decades on offer. From cool leather jackets and denim dungarees to leopard-print blouses and classic trilbies, if you’re after an item that stands the test of time, this place will have it. Shirts were particularly eye-catching – from soft paisley prints and tartan check to The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air-inspired loud patterns. With the folk tunes of Hunter & The Bear in the background and the buzz of the event in the air, the urge to spend some cash was overwhelming.
The back of the store holds the collection of shoes, from lace-up high-leg boots to cosy slipper-pumps. Just make sure you don’t sit on the moggy, who was comfortably making himself at home on the mint green armchair, despite the noise – and the attention from passers-by.
From the great atmosphere of the afternoon, Beyond Retro celebrated London Fashion Week exactly how it intended – shopping, music and booze within the walls of a vintage store that offers every bargain hunter a unique experience.
