Broome To Perth Hop On Hop Off Bus Pass Review
One of the few ways to travel along the coast of Western Australia, Bonnie Puntasecca boarded an Integrity Coach in Broome with her hop on hop off bus pass to Perth. Here, she tells us why she chose Integrity, the beautiful places she visited, and her top tip for travelling on the pass.
Why She Chose The Pass
Honestly it was by default, being from the US I don’t feel comfortable driving in Australia, there is no train in WA, public transport is virtually non-existent and Greyhound doesn’t operate there.
Travelling With The Pass
Traveling was easy. I did pre-book to ensure I had a seat since my itinerary was pretty tight/compact. I was unable to book my journey legs on the website, but a simple call sorted it out quickly and easily. Terminal/pick up/drop off locations were convenient to the places I was visiting.
How The Pass Benefitted Her Travel Experience
It allowed me to:
1) have a road trip experience without actually having to drive
2) choose which destinations were important to me rather than let a tour company decide
3) maximise my time, since the bus travels overnight – so I guess it saved me on accommodation too!
Things She Did And Places She Went
I travelled from Broome to Coral Bay where I snorkelled Ningaloo Reef and met some wonderful backpackers, then travelled from Coral Bay to Perth where I biked around Rottnest Island and explored the city before heading to Melbourne via the legendary Indian Pacific Train ride. While there were so many other stops on the Integrity route, I was short on time and could only do a few.
Top Tip
Be prepared – there’s no cell service over many parts of the routes so no data either, no Wi-Fi, no charging ports. Also, many aboriginals use the service, so it can be a good opportunity to have a chat if you are keen to interact with locals.
