Busta Rhymes signs with Cash Money Records
American rapper Busta Rhymes has officially signed to Cash Money Records.
Multi-platinum selling Rhymes reached an agreement with the increasingly influential hip-hop label founded by Bryan “Birdman” Williams and Ronald “Slim” Williams.
“Busta Rhymes is the perfect addition to the YMCMB team. He is one of the strongest artists in the game and one of best lyricists in the history of hip hop,” said a delighted “Birdman” Williams.
“He is a hard worker, knows his sound and together we are going to be making hit records for years to come.”
39-year-old Rhymes joins other major stars of the genre, including Lil’ Wayne and Drake on the YMCMB roster. He is no stranger to the label either, having worked with many of the artists signed to it, including guest appearances on Lil’ Wayne’s acclaimed Tha Carter albums and the Chris Brown single ‘Look At Me Now’.
“Birdman and I have worked together for over a decade. We’ve hustled hard and grown from friends to bosses and business partners, Rhymes said.
“Our recent work together speaks for itself and this partnership shows people the strength of a unified force. I’m going to bring my best to the table, make this move truly gel and rewrite history.”
Rhymes is reportedly hard at work on his first offering for Cash Money Records, recording in The Hit Factory in Miami and Platinum Studios in New York City as well as in a mobile studio while on the road. Fans can probably expect to hear a new album in early 2012 with more details to be announced in the coming months.
The 39-year-old can currently be heard on his latest single Why Stop Now” featuring Chris Brown.
He also features on “Turnt Up”, the new single from Young Money’s Lil Twist from his forthcoming debut album Don’t Get It Twisted. The latter single will be available on iTunes on November 29th.
