Cajsa Siik Contra LP

When she featured in their regular track of the day column, Clash magazine compared Cajsa Siik to the likes of Kate Bush and Lykke Li. While these aren’t unfair comparisons Siik’s new single has significantly more in common with Rosie Lowes’ EP Right Thing than it does with Kate Bush.

Higher is the second single taken from the Swedish-artists forthcoming new album Contra. It’s a prime example of bringing the essence of sumptuous pop to its full notion, wrapped in glossy sounds that lift the music beyond anything recognizably pop in its traditional sense.

Siik’s silk-smooth vocals are crisp, sweetened by airy synths, staccato percussion and a swoon-worth chorus. Indeed, the marriage of silky pop vocals with more electro or alternative style instrumentation is one of the most appealing features. Higher is a raw, beautiful and truly extraordinary second single from an innovative artist who has the potential to be a massive crossover success.
