Vonage Extensions is a free app that lets people make calls – both local and internationally – at simple and competitive rates, by linking their landline Vonage plan to their smartphones.

Vonage is a service that allows users to make calls over the internet, from £8 a month. When the inevitable homesickness hits, instead of using their phone minutes to call home which could be hugely costly, Vonage Extensions lets travellers make calls from their mobile any time across a 3G, 4G or WiFi connection – so parents don’t have to worry they won’t get a call from their kids because of
expensive calling cards or am unexpectedly high phone bill.

Easy to install and simple to use, it automatically syncs up with users’ address book in their phone,
and it can even be downloaded on to two phones so two travellers could use the same plan, halving the cost. The app is available on iOS and Google Play.
