Camping Paradise In The Peel Region
You don’t need to traverse Western Australia to experience the state’s diversity. Just an hour south of Perth, the Peel Region offers everything from coastlines, rivers and estuaries to bushland.
Encompassing Serpentine/Jarrahdale, Mandurah, Murray, Waroona, and Boddington, Peel is the perfect destination for the nature lover and camping enthusiasts.
On the beach, deep in the bush or lake-side, you’ll find the perfect spot for your next caravan and camping adventure in Peel. From glamping tents, caravan parks to simply pitching a tent yourself, there’s a wide variety of camping options available.
Relax right on the foothills of the picturesque Darling Ranges in the north, nearby the spectacular Serpentine Falls National Park.
Just 70 km south of Perth, Mandurah enjoys some of the most spectacular waterways in the country, often compared to a modern Venice. Base yourself either at the centrally located caravan parks or about 8 kilometres outside the city centre at Mandurah’s ‘top tourist’ 4 star caravan park.
To experience more of the region’s natural beauty, head inland to the rolling farmlands and majestic forests of the Darling Scarp. The historic town of Pinjarra, about 17 km from Mandurah, sits on the Murray River. There you can camp right on the banks of the river on a beautiful camping area spread across 4 acres. A few kilometres further east you’ll find the picturesque forest town Dwellingup.
Enjoy abundant wildlife and a diversity of ever changing landscapes at the nearby Lane Poole Reserve. Camp in the shade of towering jarrah trees in one of the many national park campsites. Dogs on a leash are permitted. About 50 kms east of Dwellingup, you find Boddington. Half of the shire is state forest and the area is popular for camping and fishing and ideal for hiking, picnics and birdwatching.
About 35 kilometres south-west of Dwellingup, the RV-friendly town Waroona offers camping at Lake Navarino, also known as Waroona Dam. The holiday park sprawls 45 hectares and is perfect for bush walking, mountain biking, 4WDing and camping. Moving west from Waroona, the ancient thrombolite reef is located on the edge of Lake Clifton at Yalgorup National Park offering camping, bushwalking, and access to the crystal waters of Preston Beach, a popular destination for 4WD and fishing enthusiasts.
From October to November wildflower hunters can find incredible colour and variety across the region on walks through Jarrahdale and Serpentine National Park, around Oakley Dam in Dwellingup and the coastal areas of Yalgorup National Park.
