The Canberra Irish Club pub was incorporated in 1975, and moved to its current location in 1986. Started by a number of Irish ex-pats, for the past 24 years the Club has been committed to nurturing its Irish heritage. A family club that prides itself on friendly service and a community feel, everybody is always welcome at the Irish Club.
The Club holds a vast range of events and activities that range from traditional live Irish music, to Irish dancing classes and performances, Irish language courses, regular guest speakers and other “craic”; truly a year-round Irish extravaganza!
The highlight of the year is no doubt the St Patrick’s festival, which is a week of traditional events to celebrate. From the annual Irish Ball, to the Guinness and Oyster festival, and culminating in the St Patrick’s day celebrations, The Canberra Irish Club is the only place in Canberra to truly celebrate in style. St Patrick’s day itself is non-stop entertainment, from a full Irish breakfast in the morning, Irish dancing and music at intervals throughout the day, and of course – green beer and plenty of Guinness! A day that is truly not to be missed.
The Canberra Irish Club also holds Canberra’s longest running karaoke, held every Friday night, with regular competitions running throughout the year. Need a laugh? The Irish Club holds the annual “Green Faces” comedy competition which runs for a number of weeks around June/July.
So whether you want to drop in for a quick pint and a yarn after work, or bring the family in for a beef and Guinness pie at our delicious bistro, The Canberra Irish Club is dedicated to ensuring you experience a little touch of Ireland and its unique charm.
As we say, “Céad Míle Failte” – a hundred thousand welcomes!
