4 Reasons To Book a Last Minute Ski Trip
Caprices Festival is an end-of-ski-season party that offers music lovers and party people one last chance to enjoy the slopes before the snow goes, as well as providing endless amounts of apres-ski fun. It takes place in Crans-Montana, a French-speaking region of Switzerland with a breath-taking view over a string of mountain peaks that unfold from the Dufourspitze to Mont Blanc via the Weisshorn and the Matterhorn.
Surrounding the mountains are all manner of stunning panoramas with lakes, glaciers, forests and vineyards and plenty of cultural offerings; from food to walks to an array of sporting activities. Mixing up both natural spaces and urban offerings, it’s a fantastic setting for a festival, and here are four reasons why you should add it to your to do list.
1)Caprices Festival lineup
There is aplenty of tasteful techno on offer at Caprices, with scene titans Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann from the famed Berghain both playing as well as minimal master Ricardo Villalobos. Cocoon party starter and Ibiza legend Sven Väth also headlines, as does creamy house star Jamie Jones from Hot Creations. Add in playful brotherly duo and US house innovators The Martinez Brothers and you have a varied and vital selection of the day’s best acts.
2. 100,000m² Snowpark
Crans-Montana is a skier and boarder’s paradise. In all there are 10,000 square meters of white snowy pistes to enjoy for those of all abilities. As well as the well bashed pistes, extreme skiers and boarders can check out a vast, 6 meter high half pipe, as well as many other jumps, wallrides, hips, box rails and rainbows, a boarder cross course and more, all of which are built according to FIS and World Cup Standards.
3) Alpine Ecomuseum
One of the many extra-curricular activities on offer is the Alpine Ecomuseum. Nestled up in the hills, it is set in authentic and aged farm buildings and out houses made from traditional wood and concrete. Once there on your guided trip, you can learn about the local environment, how farmers exploited the land and even enjoy some food and drink on sun kissed terraces.
4) Opening of Cry D’er
New to the region is Cry D’er, a unique terrace, bar, club and gourmet brasserie situated 2200 meters above sea level on the side of the mountain and offering a panoramic 360 degree view of all that surrounds it. With special culinary offerings from a top chef, Jean-Luc Daniel, it mixes up the modern with the traditional and promises lots of mouthwatering treats in a truly special location.
