Carnivals New Single ‘Absences/Ino’ Out Now

Sheffield electronic romanticist Stewart Green, also known as Carnivals, has released his first new material in just under a year in the form of new single ‘Absences / Ino (Parts 1&2)’ today. The single is available as a free download from Carnivals’ Bandcamp.

With his debut EP, ‘Mavi Kara’, Green set the foundations for his multi-faceted musical structures. Looped guitars and buried samples created a raw and joyfully disorientating mixture that showed a distorted sonic maturity.

‘Absences’ takes an assertive step forward from those original sketches. Praying on its forelorn vocal backdrop, the song’s eventual break shows a new-found confidence and accomplishment in between those sonic textures, with the introduction of wistful piano lines and driving basslines driving the song to its sweetly broken climax. ‘Ino’ then takes an adventurous tempo through the harmonic ringer, displaying how Green’s sound offers more intimacy and affectionate duality than even his lauded first release.
