Work Experience: How long have you been working?
A minimum of three years’ experience with the tools is required, however time spent in training does count towards this total time requirement. If you have between 3 and 5 years of experience, you should apply. If you’ve worked between 5 and 8 years, you’re eligible. And if you’re a Carpenter with more than 8 years of experience who wants to immigrate to Australia, we can help you.
Some carpenters and joiners have gone on to establish their own firms, while others have moved into site management or training. In this case, Immigration considers this diversification to be ‘closely related,’ so don’t be concerned if you aren’t on the tools on a daily basis any longer.
Carpenters may operate in a variety of situations, but the majority of their occupations will need them to do tasks such as collecting measurements, drawing up plans for planned work, finding supplies, generating estimates, and conducting site inspections, among other things. Carpenters are responsible for a wide range of tasks.
The majority of Carpenters undergo an apprenticeship program, during which they get hands-on training as well as classroom education. Alternatively, carpenters may finish specialized programs at technical schools and universities, as well as gain a carpentry diploma, certificate, or an associate degree.
Carpenters are required to have a working understanding of building rules and regulations, and some Carpenters specialize in a certain component of carpentry and get specialized certifications in that area of specialization.
