Cut Chemist To Bring The Audio Chemistry
Founding member of rap group Jurassic 5 and Grammy-award winning Latin-funk group Ozomatli, Cut Chemist AKA Lucas MacFadden is set to play at four festivals over the Australasian new year period.
Cut began DJing at just 11 years old and after a successful career with both Jurassic 5 and Ozomatli, took a hiatus from the groups and began to focus on his solo career in 2006. In the same year he released his first LP ‘The Audience’s Listening’ on Warner Bros and subsequently became the only sample-based DJ to ever sign to a major US record label.
His experience recording and performing a wide range of musical genres shapes the music he plays today, with a particular interest in Ethiopian, Colombian, Sudanese and Afro- Brazilian sounds.
This year, Cut released a ten year anniversary edition of his debut album titled ‘The Audience’s Following’ featuring unreleased songs, demo versions of songs originally on the ‘The Audience’s Listening’, b-sides from vinyl singles and a mix of the original song sample in ‘What’s The Altitude’ by Curtis Knight.
He has also recently announced that his long-awaited second studio album is due for release in 2017.
Cut kicks off his tour on Wednesday 28th December at Southbound Festival, Busselton before he heads to New Zealand to play Northern Bass Festival, Auckland on Thursday 29th December, Rhythm & Alps Festival in Queenstown on Friday 30th December and finishing off at Melbourne’s Let Them Eat Cake Festival in Melbourne on New Year’s Day.
