Daniel Bortz Announce His Australian Return
Daniel Bortz is about to hit Australia’s shores once again amid a packed October schedule.
The German entered the Munich-Reim dance scene during the heyday of mid-90s techno, and since then he has never looked back. Bortz’s drive not to stay in between the lines is reflected in his DJ sets: 80’s new wave, 90’s West Coast Hip-Hop, disco or dance mania are all navigated with extreme ease. You may even hear him occasionally drop a song by Whitney Housten or Phoenix to keep you guessing.
Production-wise Daniel loves the touchy subject of bootlegging. His most notable re-work is of James Blake’s Feist cover ‘Limit to Your Love‘, which reached formidable heights within the dance community (much to his surprise mind you). On the downside, the Discogs database sample put him out a cool 10,000 euros, making the endeavour pricier than procuring even the rarest old-school tracks to come out of Chicago. Bortz has also dropped EP’s “Bella Avgvsta” (parts 1, 2 and 3) on his Munich-based record label, Pastamusik.
Going for the hat-trick, Daniel’s tour kicks off on October 14 in Wollongong, followed by Chinese Laundry (Syd) on the 15th, after which the tour wraps up at Revolver for the opening of Summer Series the very next day.
