Deep Roots feat Kora, Diafrix, Tijuana Cartel & More at The Espy – 25th Jan
Renowned for their mind blowing live shows, thanks to their powerhouse rhythm section and multiple vocalists, New Zealand heavyweights KORA have built a solid local fan-base in Australia over the past few years. Long sets, brimming with their unique brand of dub based reggae, infused with electro beats and thumping bass lines, sounds that get everyone moving and venues pumping.
Platinum selling artists, and multiple award winners in their homeland for their recorded works and also for their work on the Sci Fi flavoured music video for ‘Skankenstein,’ the five piece have won hearts in Australia with sell outs shows here becoming a regular part of their international tour plot.
Joining KORA are Local boys DIAFRIX who are a multi-genre duo, community activists and one of the most refreshing bands in the Australian musical landscape. They return after their roof raising appearance here a few months ago. If you haven’t checked them out we highly recommend you do!
They hail from the Gold Coast, but TIJUANA CARTEL are known for showcasing beats that span the globe. Multi-layered grooves, touches of slide and flamenco guitar, trumpet, vocals and Afro Cuban Percussion mixed with some hardened electronica – it’s a combo that’s intriguing, energetic and utterly delicious.
Catch fellow New Zealanders FUNKOMMUNITY in their first show here at The Espy. They’re a collaboration that has been years in the making. Having first worked together on a song called ‘I’m All In’ from Isaac’s debut solo album ‘Eye See’, Isaac and Rachel’s powerful dynamic is finally realized in their debut release.
Also joining is Ms Butt, DJ Manchild and The Public Opinion Sound System.
