Discover Home And Away’s Summer Bay With Flamin’ Galah
If you’ve ever been watching Home and Away and dreamt about what it would be like to visit Summer Bay in real life, then the Official Home and Away Tour is your golden ticket! We find out just what this exciting tour has to offer directly from Flamin’ Galah’s tour guide, Tania.
What’s the highlight of the Home and Away tour?
The first glimpse of the iconic lighthouse perched up on the headland gets fans excited as they enter Summer Bay. They then see the Summer Bay Surf Club and the famous beach. Spending quality time at these iconic locations is definitely a highlight and provides excellent photo opportunities. Alf’s Bait Shop, the Pier Diner and other well known outdoor filming locations are also included in the tour. Full Home and Away commentary is provided by the tour guide who actually worked on the show for 10 years+. Also included is a bonus tour of Sydney’s spectacular coastline – The Northern Beaches.
What’s the likelihood of meeting the cast of Home and Away whilst on the tour?
Filming on location normally happens one or two days per week between Monday and Wednesday. Fans are overjoyed if they see filming and it is always an extremely exciting part of the tour. Fans are welcome to watch filming take place and when a scene is finished the cast will sometimes come over for photographs.
What other activities are available to guests when visiting Palm Beach a.k.a Summer Bay?
We have visitors from all over the world and they always remark on its beauty and enjoy getting some Summer Bay sand between their toes. We walk up to the north end to Gina’s Bench (weather permitting) and then walk down to the Pittwater side and share memories of scenes such as the gorgeous Dr Nate paddling out in his kayak!
Where are the best photo opportunities on the tour?
There are lots of great spots for a photo. The surf club has a sign saying ‘Summer Bay Surf Life Saving Club’ with Alf Stewart as the Club Patron. A shot with the coloured flags and lighthouse in the background works well and Alf’s Bait Shop is a must for every Home and Away fan.
How much time do you get in each location?
The tour lasts just under 4 hours. Time spent at Summer Bay varies, but normally fans have up to an hour and a half to see the filming locations and any filming that is taking place. The beautiful drive down the coast from Palm Beach to Manly takes up to an hour and includes some famous outdoor filming locations.
How many people are usually on each tour?
We average 15-20 passengers, but during summer the numbers will increase, so book early.
